Kids vote, kids decide! North Davis students can help choose the winners of the California Young Reader Medal.

Our students can help determine the winner of a prestigious California book prize: the California Young Reader Medal. Students read book nominations, determine their favorite, and then vote in an online process. The books with the most votes in California are the winners!

The 2024-25 nominees are listed on the California Young Reader’s Medal website. This is the 50th anniversary of this California program that encourages love of reading!

Overdues

Our greatest pleasure every day is checking out books to kids.  Sharing these experiences with kids daily always makes the library among the best places in the world to be!  We have a number of students that due to overdue library books, they aren't able to check as many things out.  We will be working on this with families in coming months to find ways to help resolve overdue, lost, misplaced, or somehow missing books.  Please know that as we contact you we are trying to help clear the account so that each child gets to check books out weekly.  Thank you so much for looking under the couch for us!!

Our Mission Statement

The mission of the Davis Joint Unified School District libraries is to foster a lifelong love and habit of reading, while promoting skills and literacy in the ethical and effective use of information and technology among all students. This is accomplished by the instruction of teacher librarians supported by technicians, who work collaboratively with faculty and staff and oversee the provision of a wide variety of print and electronic resources.
